a study in playfulness, nostalgia, instinct, and obsession.

Fine art first. Useful things second. Trouble wherever it makes sense.

SAFDS is an American studio featuring things to sit on, stare at, wear, collect, crash into, or ramble about. Its interests span fine art, furniture, collectible objects, interiors, apparel, events, select creative collaborations, and other useful meanderings. The work is informed by adventure, nature, vintage cars, motorcycles, mountain air, handmade things, strange details, old materials, good proportions, bad ideas, better accidents, and the kind of obsession that makes a person stare at a hinge, a paint edge, a tire tread, or a chair leg for longer than is socially normal.

LIMITED RUNS FOR DAILY WEAR

Small-batch apparel from the SAFDS universe. Clothes for the shop, the studio, the garage, the mountain, the coffee run, and whatever else the day gets into.

STUDIO EVIDENCE

Fine art is the foundation that informs all other practices. Paintings, drawings, architectural studies, sculptural objects, social or historical systems, and visual instincts that sometimes hold together as a coherent commentary about something of great or little consequence.
